ZEIM is an international company with a long history. We began in 1860 when
August Kessel
formed the "A. Kessel" company in Delligsen. It was his skill as a
manufacturer of hand made
file cutters that determined the character of the company.
After the death of August Kessel in 1918 the firm passed into the hands of his
son Franz Kessel. Franz became head of the company and continued to trade under
the name "A. Kessel". Up to this time waterpower was used in the grinding
shop to re-grind old files. The cost of transporting and exporting the re-ground
files made this process very expensive so an electrically
driven grinder was purchased in order to increase productivity. It was only
a matter of time
before slow grinding by hand made way for mechanization.
In 1951 Günther Zeim entered into the company "A. KESSEL" and
took over the company in 1965, thus continue the good name. The twentieth century
developed into a highly technological time for industry in general, however,
despite this the company prides itself on being a firm of craftsmen. Günther
Zeim was active and successful in developing new tools with rasping teeth for
processing rigid and soft foam materials as well as wood and cork and concentrated
consciously on tooling as a speciality, while he left the mechanical engineering
to his friendly partner company SMB-DAVID, Herrsching. But the in-house production
of pneumatically driven hand-milling units turned out to be a great supplement.
Somewhat later the medical-technical field on providing rasps for endoprostheses
with special toothings was added.
All over the world, whether it is Europe, America, South Africa or Asia, Trade
Fairs have been a
major method in which our business has expanded. From these shows new ideas
have been
gathered and experiences have been shared - all of which is reflected in an
ever-widening product range. We have more recently actively sort to expand our
business throughout the world by working with Agencies who represent our interests
world-wide.
Since 1991, control of the company passed to Günther Zeim's son Thomas
Zeim. He has injected his own personality and ideas since taking over, for instance
whilst keeping the real tooling works as part of the production process he has
expanded in new directions to encompass both mechan-ical engineering and industrial
plant construction. Furthermore he introduced the manufacture of carbide and
diamond milling tools. Even his son Matti Zeim goes on with engagement and expert
knowledge with the long company tradition.
Thanks to its diversity the company today occupies a position as a major player
in the Foam, Wood and Synthetic Industries. Our representatives around the world
ensure that we are able to
continuously address our clients' needs.
